Job Description

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), the UN Migration Agency, is a dynamic and growing inter-governmental organization, with 174 member states. Working in IOM Mozambique Under the overall supervision of the Programme Manager (MHPSS/Protection), in close coordination with the Head of the office, the successful candidate will contribute to information management requirements of IOM Protection-MHPSS activities in Cabo Delgado and Nampula. The position is based in Pemba, Cabo Delgado with frequent travels to districts of Cabo Delgado and Nampula.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  1. In close coordination with the MHPSS/Protection Unit in IOM Mozambique, participate in the development, implementation, and administration of database information systems to gather and process information on programme’ s activities conducted in Cabo Delgado and Nampula, and prepare relevant reports.
  2. Support the coordination and monitoring of the work of field teams related to data collection and weekly reporting for programme’ s emergency activities. Verify data entry ensuring that it is timeously done, accurate, reliable and respects IOM’s data protection principles. Support field teams through field visits when necessary.
  3. Prepare 5Ws for the Protection and Health Clusters based on programme’ s databases.
  4. Support the MHPSS TWG in the coordination of information collection, analysis and reporting of monthly 4Ws. Process information from databases in a timely manner.
  5. Provide general information management support services to the MHPSS/Protection team and MHPSS TWG as required, including through the preparation of maps and factsheets.
  6. Support M&E activities of the programme, including through the implementation of impact assessments.
  7. Implement proper backup, restore, data validation, and security procedures.
  8. Support the management in data analysis for donor reports and internal sit reps using the programme’s various databases.
  9. Provide basic technical support in the design of other databases and auxiliary systems for existing or new programs and projects within IOM Mozambique, as required.
  10. Participate in reinforcement of the Information Management skills of the MHPSS/Protection Unit, as needed.
  11. Perform any other duties as assigned by senior management.

 

 

Qualifications

Education 

  • University degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Statistics, Science from an accredited academic institution with three years of relevant experience, or
  • Completed High school degree with five years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Experience in related field, preferably within the International Humanitarian Field; Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality is mandatory.
  • Experience using two or more of the following tools: ASP.Net, Microsoft SQL server, Data analysis with Excel, MS Office Applications.
  • Experience with population database system development and implementation (such as registrations, census, or surveys).
  • Experience and knowledge of data visualization tools like PowerBI/Tableau/Google Data Studio.
  • Experience in developing KOBO/ ODK tools.
  • Experience with mapping software like ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of population database systems (such as registrations, census, or surveys).
  • Experience in database development and maintenance.
  • Experience in managing and training data entry staff.

 

 

Required Skills

• Ability to operate GIS software and produce mapping products.• Hands on experience in database development / maintenance and data analysis.
